Looth Tooth

Elyse is SO excited to finally have a loose tooth. She has been wiggling it diligently for several days. Today it suddenly got very wiggly and looks like it could be out soon. Tooth Fairy, be ready!
OK, so the second picture is just her and her "gobbler teeth" that she got at Peter Piper Pizza.
We are trying to convince Elyse to get the tooth out tonight (we are just as excited as she is and we're offering her a lot of wiggling advice: back and forth, pull, side to side, twist....). Carolyn says it must be out before Aunt Gert comes for Thanksgiving. I don't know why they think she would pull it. Aunt Gert would never do such a thing! It definitely needs to be out before we go to Grandpa's....He pulled Mom's teeth when I was a kid. OK, only because Mom always fell for that "I'm just going to wiggle it" line....and then he'd yank it out. I wasn't the brightest kid....
When I was a kid and we lost teeth, we would put them in a glass of water on the window sill. The Tooth Fairy would take the tooth and leave money in the glass. Somewhere I have read the reasoning behind that, but I can't remember it and none of my siblings seem to reply to my question. Anyone know the background on this tradition? What was (is) your Tooth Fairy tradition? What is the going rate for teeth in your ZIP code?! I look forward to hearing your comments. We'll keep you posted on Elyse's tooth losing process.
