Hiking in Sedona

Our "direction of the day" was to the Airport Vortex. We hiked a trail...we now know the difference between a "loop" and "hike". Elyse was not a happy hiker when she learned we had to turn around and go back just the way we came! (honestly, neither was Mom!). We did that hike, then hung out in the vortex, rested and re energized. Then we did the 3.3 mile airport loop...we had agreed that we'd hike for 15 minutes, then turn around...well, we were having such fun after 30 minutes, we decided we were enjoying it so much, we'd just go the rest of the way. WOAH....the next 90 minutes of hiking were not as much fun!
However, the girls let their "inner mountain goat" show and they scrambled right up the rocks and hills. Both their Grandmas would be having a heart attack at how quickly they got up and around the smooth red rock...as we continued our hike, we ended up with both girls on our backs at one time or another just so we could keep moving. We were very happy to get home, go to the hot tub and the fire. It was COLD up by the fire tonight, so that was short lived (long enough for a s'more or two - we deserved it after our day!). We hung out inside the activity center and played games. We offered our house to a couple from Boston in case their flight was cancelled...I wonder if they got back to Boston today...
