March 3 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Carolyn got to do Tuesday Book Talk at Heritage this morning. This is the "speech" she gave about Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets:

"This is the second book in the Harry Potter series and Harry has just returned to Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A series of messages have been written on the walls of the school warning the students that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened and that the heir of Slytherin will kill all students who are not from pure wizard families. Students are attacked and frozen by a mysterious character and it is up to Harry and his friends to solve the mystery.

The Harry Potter Series of books has been around as long as or longer than most of the students at Heritage. Some of you older students may have read them back when you were my age and some of you younger kids might want to wait a few years to read them. It would be considered fictional fantasy with a lot of mystery. There is some violence and a few parts were a little scary, but it did have a happy ending.

This book and the other Harry Potter books have been made into blockbuster movies. I thought the book was less scary than the movie."
