Horseback Riding

Yee ha! We finally got to the horseback riding part of our vacation and when we showed up, I think we gave a whole new meaning to the words "City Slickers".

We got mounted up and were off on the trail for two hours. Elyse had never ridden by herself before and was happy to have our leader keep her on the lead rope. After a short time, she was more comfortable with Wheeler and handled him quite well. It was quite a site seeing her pulling him away from the trees/grass and back onto the trail. She was definitely in charge!

Carolyn's
ho
rse did not like the water. He jumped twice when we crossed a creek. That sort of freaked Carolyn out - wiped her 45 minutes of perma-smile off for a very short time. Once she got her confidence back, she was just fine - but she did keep Skipper out of the puddles as best she could.

Mom and Dad were along too....Mom was most excited when she got her horse, Yogi, to trot. I felt like Donkey on Shrek, "Look at me! I'm trotting!" It was fun - Elyse had a little of that too and couldn't stop laughing as all of us were saying "HANG ON!" She was laughing because it was so much fun and wishes we'd had more time to do more of it. Scott's horse, Opie, was pretty mellow and just hung at the end of the line. He liked to eat. Wait - are we talking about Opie or Scott?!
