Desert Dragon Pottery - Part 2

1. Test drive your wheel. Check out the pedal and get a feel of how hard you need to press the pedal.

2. Get the wheel ready: clean off the tile but don't have it too wet.

3. Take your hunk of clay and pat it into a ball - don't knead it like bread, just toss it back and forth in your hands until it is a ball.

4. Throw your ball on the wheel and keep it and your hands really wet. Make sure it's stuck or it will fly off. Elyse must have had her wheel a little too wet!

5. Turn your wheel on fast, brace your elbow and hunker down as your hands cup the clay and you form a volcano. Mine turned out more like a Dairy Queen ice cream cone. Michi said, "It's fine. Volcanoes come in many different shapes!"
