One of our favorite places to visit is Sunrise Mountain. We weren't sure what the weather would be like - we've had rain/thunder/lightning every day since we've been here - but we ventured on our way anyway. It was a GORGEOUS day on the mountain. We rode the lift up (11 minutes) and then hiked down (1 hour, 11 minutes), then rode back up, and down and up and down and up and down...it was a very fun day. The girls enjoyed riding the lift and I am so thankful I have a family interested in and willing to do it. Some kids wouldn't be so brave. We enjoyed watching the bikers ride down the mountain over and over again. That is something this family is not brave enough to do! As we were hiking down I kept thinking, "This is rough enough on legs; I can't imagine doing this on a bike!" And then I'd think of my nephew, Jake. He would do it.
Top of the mountain. Happy Family. |
Hiking down the mountain. Sisters getting on each others nerves. |
Hiking down. Elyse chased a lot of butterflies and wanted badly to catch one. No luck. |
Top of mountain. Still a happy family. |
Zona and Carolyn take a break while waiting for Dad and Elyse to catch up. |
Almost the best part of the day: Indian Taco for lunch. |
Best part of the day: Indian Fry Bread with honey and powdered sugar. and coffee. |
Elyse takes that "clear the way" part very seriously. She is very quick off the lift. |
That's Elyse relaxing in her own seat. We all rode alone one time...I enjoyed a nice quiet meditation through the trees. Beautiful. |
