he first year we've been home for Elyse's birthday in a few years - we're usually on vacation somewhere. This is also the first year Elyse has had a birthday party with a lot of friends. It's hard getting people together in the summer! So she had a swimming party - which was perfect because it was really hot! About 8 friends came over and spent a couple hours in the pool and then 3 friends stayed the night. I was happy I only had to come 
down at midnight and tell them to go to sleep -- better than calling parents and having kids go home in tears! It was a fun night.
Elyse got a lot of really great gifts - she was very excited about every one of them! Who doesn't get excited when someone gives you a gift!? Her red sparkly shoes were exactly what she wanted (along with a disco ball, lava lamp, dance floor and massage chair). Let's suffice it to say not every birthday wish came true but she was happy with what she got. We will be making a trip to Build a Bear to make a new bear soon!
