Carolyn's performance with Andre Rieu (MOM'S VERSION)

This is my version of the performance: I was so proud! I cried the moment they came on stage - and I'm not a fan of the song they sang - but it was pretty moving. The whole group was very professional looking and sang very well. It was a great experience for all of us!

The concert...well....I was not familiar with Andre Rieu at all. Carolyn was one of 30 students from PCC to be selected to perform in this concert (there are about 300 students in the whole PCC organization). They rehearsed a half hour on this piece every week for about six weeks. As soon as we found out about it, we googled Andre Rieu and watched whatever youtube videos we could find. All I could say at that point was, "hmmm...." The song isn't exactly an uplifting tune. BUT away we went to rehearsal every week, we searched everywhere for a white outfit...not easy to do in kids' sizes, and we were ready to go.

We were given tickets to the concert and had no idea what to expect. I compared it sort of to a combination of Hostfest/Lawrence Welk/a regular symphony concert and a bit of Liberace. The symphony looked to be genuinely enjoying themselves - especially when they started pouring champagne and beer on the stage and drinking it while they played! Now that's my kind of performance!

This is a video of Carolyn's performance (copy and paste the address....). They had a photo op with Andre and Carmen, but we haven't gotten those pics yet.

Next to come: Carolyn's version of the experience. The dinner buffet alone made it worthwhile and celebrity feeling.

  1. How exciting! My mom and I sat and watched it here at the hospital. She was impressed, and very jealous because apparently she wanted to go to that concert. ;) WAY TO GO, CAROLYN!
