Variety Show 2011 - ELYSE

Elyse decided that instead of telling jokes this year, she'd put together a skit with her friends. They rehearsed many times in my classroom and they did a nice job.

Elyse had been sick with a fever since Wednesday afternoon. She was too sick to go to school Thursday and perform. As she was in bed with her 102 temp, she said - in a dramatic way that only Elyse can - "Oh why didn't I have an understudy?" So I asked if I could be her understudy for that day; she agreed - but not without first making sure I knew the script and what exactly I was to do. Maybe you just had to hear the exchange in person. I was more than a little nervous to fill her shoes!

Friday Elyse was still running a temp but she persuaded us to let her go in just for the Variety Show (I assured her I could step in again.....just a little "All About Eve" going on here....the understudy just wanted to be in the spotlight!). So Dad brought her in just in time for the show and took her home before she could expose too many people to her sickness. You have to listen pretty carefully to these little kids' voices. Enjoy.
