It isn't often I get to experience "firsts" for Carolyn anymore so we were both excited for her to have her FIRST experience with band. Since she'll be start Grade 5 (gasp!) this year, she gets to start band. Last spring she chose to play the French Horn and has been counting days until the Jump Start Summer Band Program started August 1 and she'd finally get her horn. She was all smiles (as was her band teacher!) all the way there and had an even bigger smile when she walked out with her horn (it is heavy!). I was happy to be able to help her get started at home - amazing how quickly playing comes back! It helps that I was a horn player and could help her find her starting pitches - horn is tricky that way. She practiced diligently (gosh I hope it continues....) all week and was able play "Hot Cross Buns" and "Merrily We Roll Along". Somewhere in this house there is a video....
