Fireworks

No Fourth of July is complete without fireworks - whether they last two hours or twenty minutes (or, if you were in San Diego:  twenty seconds!), they are a part of the celebration. I do not enjoy the noise of fireworks, rather, I enjoy the sparkle and color of them.  The girls begged and begged to buy fireworks, so after our rainy picnic and a trip to Starbucks, we stopped to buy a box of stuff.   We sat on the driveway and let the girls light them off and then we could see Peoria's display as well.

As we were starting, Elyse asked, "Where's that stick thing we use to light them? I forgot what it's called. A jerk or something?" I said, "A punk?" Elyse says, "Oh yeah! That's what it's called."   We have renamed the punk, 'dude'.

Elyse was not going to get too close.

I was trying the 'fireworks's setting on the camera...
it really made this look bigger than it was!

The box says, "PYRO FAN".
That's my girls!
Holding their "dudes".

Neither of the girls is going to get too close to the fuse...

Sparklers to end the night.
Notice that Elyse has traded the "USA" headband seen earlier
for a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" hat.
She is counting the days until her 9th birthday!
