Today I was reminded of a Monty Python song..."I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK. I sleep all night and I work all day!"
So...if the girls want to have a fire, we need wood. There is a pile of wood outside our cabin, but it needs to be chopped into wood-burning-stove-sized-pieces. There is also an axe next to the pile of said wood. Let the chopping begin. Now, I was comparing axe swinging to bat swinging and if any of you know me at all, you know that my bat-to-ball connection is poor to fairly non-existent. Well, my axe-to-log connection is not a lot better, but it did improve throughout my woodchopping adventure. We had a nice fire tonight and I learned how well a nice Moscato wine pairs with a s'more.
Swing....and a miss...or a split. It was a crapshoot with every swing. |
Elyse gives it a whack.... Sometimes we found it easier if we got the axe wedged in the wood and then whacked the wood around. |
Carolyn did pretty well. |
We need to work on that grip. |
