Police Academy

June 3 - 7

 

Well, it really isn't Police Academy...it was Youth Citizen's Police Academy. The City of Peoria offered this one week program and Carolyn thought it sounded interesting, so she and her friend, Alyssa, signed up. The week long program, I believe, is pretty much the same thing as the DARE programs we used to have in our schools.

 

Carolyn got to predict how fast a car was going (she did very well - always guessing within the required 2 mph), toured the police station, cleared a building and had some fun on the rock climbing wall.  She thought learning about different kinds of drugs was very interesting. Carolyn and Alyssa really had a great time and would do it all over again when they can.  I enjoyed  seeing the K-9 unit at 'graduation'.
