Show Low

We moved to Arizona in 1997 and I remember hearing people talk about how beautiful Pinetop and the White Mountains were.  My aunt and uncle (Alice "GG" and Ed) had a place in Show Low until Ed died in 1998;  she still talks about how much he loved it up here and how it was his place, which is why she sold the place shortly after he died. It was just too hard to come without him.  I get it.

We came up here for the first time over Spring Break in 2007 and I have to say, I fell in love with the area.  So off and on since then we have come up and explored different areas of the towns:  Pinetop, Lakeside, Greer, Show Low.... I dream of having a 'little cabin in the woods' up here some day. My sister and her kids used to come up to Pinetop and do some running training...off and on we would connect with them and enjoy the cool weather the White Mountains offer compared to the valley's July heat.  It's been wonderful.

For the past few years we have rented places in Pinetop/Lakeside and we have loved it.  Just scroll back to our pictures from last year...great deck...yard for the dogs...fireplace...thunderstorms: wonderful, blissful relaxation.  This year we found a place in Show Low and it is just as relaxing. We have found that being able to bring the dogs along is good for all of us and we are wonderfully surprised at how easy it is to find a dog friendly place on VRBO.  Having said that, I do imagine what it will be like to travel without them....I keep reminding myself that they are good walking companions.  ANYWAY....

We arrived here Saturday afternoon and settled into 820 Reidhead in Show Low. The dogs wasted no time making the place 'their's' (read: marked their territory), we did laundry, hung the hammock, and we have found/made our weeklong home to be very comfortable.  Today we walked to a Farmer's Market.. We are grateful for the homeowners of VRBO that open their homes to vacationers like us.

My view from the hammock.
I have to admit:  I needed a sweatshirt and a blanket yesterday.
It was FANTASTIC.

Elyse likes to swing in the hammock...
