Softball

Carolyn really stepped out on a limb this winter and tried out for the school softball team.  She'd never played before and was late to tryouts because of a long volleyball season (did we mention her team was district champs?!).  So she made the team - not a lot of seventh graders did and actually got to play now and then.  I have to admit:  I don't really enjoy baseball/softball.  It's a little slow...and let's face it:  it was COLD this winter!  The team did well, Carolyn saw some time at 2nd base and even connected with the ball now and then for a few hits.

The team went into playoffs and won two games the first day - their 2nd game was really good and they ended up winning 16 - 14.  That put us into the finals and we lost a hard fought game under the lights.  It was a fun season and I thought we 'd move right into basketball, but Carolyn decided not to try out. I have to admit:  I was really bummed at the decision, however, now both of us are enjoying getting home from school a little earlier.

This is the 2nd time Carolyn was in the dirt -
and the only one I caught on camera.
We are never sure how she ended up that way -
but it was pretty comical to watch.
No - she isn't sliding into home
but she isn't sure just what she tripped over.
The chalk maybe?!
