Both girls play in our school's band and I really think they have one of the best - if not the best - band director in our district. Mrs. Melkin (yes, she's Melkin, I am Mielke and we taught next door to each other...very confusing). Carrie and I have worked closely and well together for seven years. This year I taught K-4, so we no longer share students or work as closely, but I still admire her work and dedication to her students - namely my own children. I am excited that next year I get to teach her daughter as she starts kindergarten at Heritage. And that Carrie and I still get to have lunch together a few times a week.
