First Day of School 2010

August 9th was our first day back to school. Carolyn is entering 4th grade; Elyse 2nd. Mom is starting her 18th year of teaching. Elyse was happy she got through the day without crying - but "two kids hurled". The best part is on Wednesday she came home to say, "Guess what! Another puker!" Today is was, "We got a new kid today. I feel sorry for him though because he has a broken arm." Things are very exciting in 2nd grade!

Carolyn hasn't come home with as many stories about 4th grade adventures...she read the book "Holes" already (and it wasn't even assigned reading!). She must have really liked it - she was pretty glued to it. Today she went to talk to the principal at school (yes, she went to the principal's office!) about starting a Chess Club. APPROVED! Her teacher agreed to be the sponsor and her husband will help out....(I wonder if he knows that....) so if anyone has an old chess set they'd like to donate to the Chess Club, please let me know! Carolyn is quite excited about it - her next project is to figure out how to promote it.

As for me...well...it's another year teaching music. I have nice sized choirs - and they can sing! I'm very excited about them. Now that I've seen all my classes at least once, I feel like I can begin teaching and not just doing introductions. After five years in the same place, those introductions and rules etc. go really fast. Wow - tomorrow is already Friday!
