Thanksgiving Day

Again, I LOVE LOVE LOVE hosting Thanksgiving. This year we had a small crowd - only 12 of us! The Allmaras family: my brother, Garth, his wife, Cathy and two of their kids (Joan and Jake); The Magnuson family: my sister, Gert, her husband, Mike and two of their kids (Ted and Jill); and the Mielke family: me, Scott, Carolyn and Elyse. I marveled that we pulled it all off with out any of the usual "adult" supervision. I made gravy all by myself for the first time in 12 Thanksgivings!

The turkey was carved beautifully with the help of an electric knife (and Garth's expertise) and everything was cooked to perfection and kept warm thanks to many crock pots. I am amazed that my mom used to feed 20-30 of us at many tables family style when we were growing up. I don't think I've ever done that! I can't remember if everyone gave consent to have their picture posted to the blog, so out of respect for everyone's privacy, I'll only post us. : ) We are trying to do better at taking pictures of our holiday celebrations. Now my next job is to put the pictures in a book...I knew I shouldn't have gotten rid of all my scrapbooking stuff!

Elyse likes her whipped cream....I made three pumpkin pies and we did not even finish one!

We had a little Thanksgiving crafting time too... Elyse came home from Brownies with a cute t-shirt craft so we made them for the whole family - everyone made their own....OK, I'm going to post everyone just because we look so darn cute! Next post!
