Elyse was studying Native Americans before Thanksgiving and I was only half listening when she said she wanted to build a teepee like the Plains Indians did. When she said she wanted to sleep in said teepee, I didn't argue. I was quite surprised to go upstairs and find her in her teepee made of couch cushions IN FRONT OF A FIRE. Yes, that is a fire made of paper. She is so creative.
To go along with Elyse's Native American studies, she asked if she could set up a Trading Post at Thanksgiving: "You know, people could bring trinkets and stuff to trade." I was hesitant, but put it out to the guests and she had a pretty good turnout! I traded some CD's and people came down with some nice beads and necklaces...it was fun and maybe will become a new Mielke Thanksgiving tradition...instead of a Thanksgiving craft.
