"So how's your mom?"

That was the million dollar question of the week. HIPPA regulations prevent me from sharing details, so all I will say is she's doing OK. We had a nice afternoon having coffee with her friends on Wednesday. She declined the offer to stop at the bar for a drink as we were chauffering the ladies home (Ramona and I were quite disappointed) but after getting Ramona safely in her home, Mother and I drove around town. Maybe if it hadn't been so cold and going in to Hanson's wouldn't have required getting out of a warm car she could have been convinced.... I marvel at the fact that my mom can still tell me who lives in nearly every house in town - or who used to - even though I have no idea who she is talking about. Her mind remains sharp even though her movement and pace have slowed. She is content in her chair and is finding her way around the iPad to check her email or play a game. No matter how much I tried, she said she was not interested in Words With Friends. That made me sad. She prefers FreeCell or Hearts I guess.

My parents are 80 and 86 and are doing well taking care of themselves and of each other. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in October 2011 and continue to do well in their own home. They welcome the company when any of us come to visit (well, isn't that how every parent is supposed to make their kids feel?!). I'm sure it is refreshing just to have someone new with whom to visit! I did a lot of baking (with Daddy's help) so their freezer is now full of cookies. Stop on over to say hi if you're in the area.
