Dogs and Ducks

We are so pleased that we could bring our dogs with us this year. We have a fabulous fenced in yard at the cabin and the dogs are enjoying it very much.  Annie has a lot more space to run and chase her Kong. Funny thing:  we have seen no wildlife here. The birds and squirrels must be hiding from the rain.  Or they know that Annie will chase them away if they get close.

Last week we took the dogs to Woodland Park and you remember Coco's labrador instincts took over and she chased the ducks - while pulling Elyse through the mud. Today we took them to Fools Hollow and we were actually encouraging Coco to chase them...she had a great time.

Both dogs were really good just hanging
out on the dock for most of the day.  Even Annie has been very calm the whole trip.  She only barks at thunder.  OK. There's been quite a bit of thunder - but if you know Annie, she really has been calm!

Coco checked out the birds.
She thought about it and just wasn't sure how to get off the dock to go after them.

She got a bit more agitated and was still trying to figure out how to get to them.
Ah yes!  Just walk into the water because she's too afraid to jump!

And she's off!
She caught up to them very quickly and we were cheering her on!

Ducks got smart and split up when she got really close.
If I were the duck, I would have just flown away.

No duck capture.
Now she has to swim all the way back to shore.
Just keep swimming...just keep swimming....

Coco had lots of encouragement from the shore.
I am pretty sure she was thinking:
"WTF?!  This must be why I don't swim at home! It's too much work!"
