Crayon Making

For Valentine's Day, our friend, Kelly, and her daughter, Madelyn, made crayons.  If you want the really cool version of how to make these, you need to see her blog (MadiCakes) for the step by step directions.  Carolyn and Elyse thought it was so cool, they wanted to make them too.  And since Madelyn didn't use all the crayons we'd sent over, we had plenty of materials to get started.  This project occupied the girls for a good part of Presidents' Day weekend.  I was telling them that I remember doing this as a kid - but it was a much messier, much more difficult process. Thank heavens for Pinterest and Kelly!

Peeling the crayons...
separating the colors just right.
Yes, this was indeed the hardest part.

Working together ----
and smiling!

Either Elyse got bored or was just done with her portion...
Carolyn got pretty intricit with her crayon creations.

Ready to go in the oven.
Those silicone pans make this project so much
easier than it was when I was a kid!
