Both girls have enjoyed a fun filled year as part of Heritage's Student Council. I am constantly amazed at their adviser, Coach Mulvihill. She does fun things with the kids - teaches them teambuilding and leadership skills and holds those kids accountable for their responsibilities on the council. I was able to get to their final 'meeting/party' of the year and was again so impressed with Coach Mulvi and the kids with whom she works. She gave fun awards and recognized all the kids' efforts.

Carolyn was recognized for 'going above and beyond.' She will really have to go above and beyond next year: |

...because she is the President for SY2014-15!
Carolyn ran - much to the envy of her former politician dad and his political colleagues - unopposed for President. She managed her own campaign, made posters and worked the campaign trail, which consisted of visiting 4-7th grade classrooms and finally giving a speech to the student body telling them why they should choose her to be their StuCo President. I smiled when I listened to her speech because I could hear the influences of the TV she'd been watching at that time. Her speech was a bit of President Josiah Bartlett from 'The West Wing' and Leslie Knope from 'Parks and Recreation'. She did well at all of it and, of course, was declared the winner. She will have a fun team of officers to lead and will have a whole lot of work to do. We are very proud of her and are very excited to see what her final year at Heritage Elementary brings.
